Winter Update from Home and Away Pools

Despite the cold weather, our swimmers have been busy. Apart from training and club racing at home – five Stingrays swimmers were on the blocks at the Country Championships, held just weeks ago, and others have been busy attending qualifying meets and development events away from home.

It’s great to see the support and enthusiasm from our swimmers; no matter if it is a week day squad session, or an official race event – they’re all smiles, while encouraging each other to do better.

CVSA Junior Squad

Junior Development Squad members received a certificate of appreciation for their basket carrying performance at the 2015 Swimming NSW State Open Championships – well done girls, you looked fabulous – and how great it was to meet and greet elite swimmers 🙂

CVSA Achievers Squad

A number of Stingrays swimmers were selected to join the Achievers Squad – development activities organised and run by CVSA.

The development days consist of seminars, pool training, introduction to time-keeping and other official pool-side duties; along with the opportunity to meet swimmers from other clubs, hang out with coaches and have a good time. The first day (of 3) was held on the 18th of July, and the swimmers came back raving about how great it had been, with renewed inspiration to take to the pool, which is what it’s all about. Thank you to David who did the driving up to Newcastle, and to our swimmers, who shared the enthusiasm 🙂

On the Web

While surfing the interweb, I came across this news article (from March this year)… Fabulous to see Ciaran flying the Gosford Stingrays flag, all the way from England, when he was visiting relatives and training in the local 25m pool.

Pool-side Razzle Dazzle

The winter holidays are over and Club resumed Friday-night racing the week before last. It’s good to be back, and to get us even more in the mood, four of the older boys treated us to a dazzling catwalk entry; complete with twirls and bows … taking poolside fashion to a whole new level 🙂

What, I ask, will the girls respond with ???

Keep warm and see you at club 🙂
