A big workload leading up to the Easter break delayed this post a little, but finally… here is the wrap from the club Summer Championships – held on the 27th March 2015 🙂
A big turnout and beautiful weather helped make this club champ a great event all round. Well done to all the swimmers, who all raced well and marshalled in an exemplary fashion on the night! Below are some of the photos taken on the night… if you have a photo you would like to show off here, please let us know 🙂
Freestyle 25m | 50m | 100m
Freestyle competition provided many impressively fast swims across the pool (and some, back again – for the 100m).

Impressive dash for the wall in the 50m Free
Looking like a ‘blanket finish’ in the older boys 50m Freestyle …
Completing the 100m Freestyle race
Backstroke 25m | 50m 100m
Many lovely straight arms were seen during the backstroke races, some PBs were recorded (congratulations) and some hair-raising finishes to top off the excitement!
Older kids helping out by marking the 25m point in the pool for the younger competitors
Swimmers competing in the 50m Backstroke
Breaststroke 25m | 50m | 100m
With 3 distances on offer, the swimmers weren’t spoilt for choice… Breaststroke racing took place just as the sun began to set over Brisbane Water, providing a beautiful backdrop for the events. Unfortunately, my very slow camera refused to capture the swimmers ‘above water’, so for now you will have to imagine the racing – which was impressive indeed! 🙂

Fly 25m | 50m | 100m
Butterfly is often viewed as a difficult stroke to get right… Despite the challenge, several of the Stingrays swimmers shine in the fly, with their arms and legs coordinated perfectly as they skip across the pool. I’m told that once you get the timing right, it becomes easier… For now, I’m happy to admire the flyers, quietly hoping that this stroke won’t appear in the parent race at the end of the year 🙂

200m IM | 200m Free
To end the night of competition, swimmers could choose to swim the Individual Medley or the 200m Freestyle. Plenty of great performances to complete a successful club championship. Well done everyone!

Stingrays girls on pool-deck after the IM – well done!
Getting some good advice from ‘Tony Super Starter’ after the race 🙂
Happy Easter all 🙂
